We’ve been made aware that there is a credit card scam going around where a scammer is using our business name to make charges on people’s credit cards.
After speaking with the victims, it seems to be related to Facebook sweepstakes and quizzes that ask for sensitive information like your full name, social security number, credit card number, and other sensitive information. This also seems to be a nationwide scam as we’ve learned other small businesses across the USA are currently facing the same problems we are.
When browsing the web, NEVER give your sensitive information to ANY sweepstakes, quizzes, Facebook games/post, Instagram posts, or sales/give away posts that seem to-good-to-be-true. Regarding Facebook, if the comments on a post (sales post, missing person post, etc.) are turned off, then it is 100% a scam. The scammer will lure you to message them so they can steal your information. Facebook ads can be misleading as well, and may take you to an official looking website to steal your financial info.
When shopping online, make sure the website is official by checking a trusted source like the Better Business Bureau. Look for any misspellings in the web address (Ex: BestValueeMedical.com, BestValueMedicall.com) and on the website itself. Check the phone number and address to make sure they’re legitimate. Always look for a small “lock” symbol and “HTTPS” next to the web address (https://www.bestavluemedical.com) and if the prices seem to-good-to-be-true, the website is most likely a scammer’s trap.
